Namaste!
The India Cultural Association of East Alabama (ICAEA) strives to bring the Indian community of Auburn and surrounding areas such as opelika and tuskagee together. Many of our activities emphasize also our children as we seek to enhance their understanding and appreciation of Indian values, language and culture. The ICAEA also provides a platform to showcase Indian cultural and thus help improve an understanding of India among the main-stream American community.
The Association works closely with Indian Students Association (ISA) of Auburn University, and hosts many events such as Indian Republic Day, Holi/Picnic, Indian Independence Day and Diwali. In addition, we also host pot luck dinner, kite festival, movie nights and other such events to bring the community together and promote networking.
We have started teaching Hindi to our children through Balvihar classes. Beginning this year we have the plans to start the sports related coaching/activities among the community kids with support and response from the community.
Our website www.icaea.org helps us to keep in touch with the members and foster information sharing within the community.
Success of our association depends on you! It is critical that you show up for events, take part in our activities and also volunteer to help with the programs. I am very pleased that we have a very dedicated committee members, all of whom have volunteered to help the community despite their busy schedules.
